About the workThe dancer's body twists with a slightly bent leg and gracefully raised arms. The fragmented forms and angles invite the viewer to contemplate the sculpture from different angles. Rudolf Belling began his career as a stage and costume designer, before studying sculpture at the Art Academy in Charlottenburg, Berlin in 1911. Due to the political situation in Germany, he emigrated in 1937 and taught at the art academy in Istanbul for almost three decades.
