not on displayIrish architect and designer Eileen Gray combined aesthetic design with functional demands. The "Petite Coiffeuse" dressing table, created for her summer house in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin in the south of France, is an example of her minimalist design language: carefully considered, down to the last detail, the swivelling drawer section can be opened easily with a single movement. After studying fine arts in London, Gray moved to Paris in 1902. Inspired by modern art and Japanese lacquerware, she presented her first furniture pieces at the Paris Salon des Arts Décoratifs in 1913, where they were met with great success.
