ProvenanceConsumer criticism by means of mould: Dieter Roth was interested in the abundance of materials in consumer society. From the 1960s onwards, he used perishable foods such as cheese, sausage and chocolate as artistic material. In this two-part work, the German-Swiss artist pitted two Limburger cheeses against each other in a race against time. The work is one of his "Mould Paintings", which explore the natural decay of consumer goods and excessive wastefulness in society. It was created towards the end of Roth’s three-year teaching activity at the Düsseldorf Art Academy. Inventory number0.2013.27
