Status
on display, room 031 About the workThis masked nude by the German-American painter Richard Lindner is not so much an angel as it is a sexualised representation of a woman. The figure’s pose also makes her look somewhat like a robot; the shiny glazed surface is reminiscent of lacquer and metal. Lindner’s colourful “machine people” are exaggerated stereotypes of industrial society. The artist made this edition out of gingerbread for the Eat Art Gallery in Düsseldorf, where the artist Daniel Spoerri exhibited edible art.
