About the workIn Greek mythology, Amazons are women who go to war together with men. As one of these, Ulrike Rosenbach shoots pointed arrows in her video at a reproduction of the painting of the "Madonna in the Rosenhag", which Stefan Lochner, the most important representative of the Cologne school of painting, created around 1450. In the video, the face of the saint is superimposed on that of the artist, so that Rosenbach shoots herself at the same time. She is one of the pioneers of video art and addresses questions of identity, femininity and role models in her works.
