on display, room G 11 About the workAnthracite-coloured patches, “chiazze” in Italian, form a stark contrast with the flawlessly clear glass, which has only remained visible in a few places. The glassworks developed this technique of adding a dark coating at the beginning of the 1950s and it was initially used on individual pieces. This vase belongs to a series in which the “fillings” of circular fused bands of milk and coloured glass occur in different colours. The Fratelli Toso company was founded in 1854 and is still in operation today as the oldest glassworks on Murano.
