About the workThe cut pattern on this bowl is also found on vessels in the church treasuries of Halberstadt and Venice. When the objects arrived there from the Byzantine Empire during the Crusades, they were already antiques – highly valued goods from the Iranian cultural sphere and highlights of its ancient glass art from the dawn of early Islam. Only a fragment of the bowl has been preserved, but it is enough to allow us to fully visualise its original appearance.
