About the work"Finely lined up and arranged in groups, they looked out of the board" – this sentence, composed of individual plug-in letters, describes its own typography. This work by Ulrich Meister illustrates the interrelationship between language and image, sign and signified. It is part of a series of works on pegboards, which are traditionally used for commercial and private announcements. Before studying at the Düsseldorf Art Academy, the Swiss artist had completed an apprenticeship as a typesetter.
