About the workA young woman wearing in sparse clothing walks through the darkness of the night. Against the shadowy background, her long body looks luminous, almost transparent. She is carrying a full bin bag in each hand. As is so often the case, Grace Weaver depicts a situation that many people recognise from their own lives: taking out the rubbish in a hurry. The US painter captures these seemingly banal moments and raises questions about the lives of young women in urban environments in a way that is equally serious and humorous.
