1900 – 1945
After the turn of the century, European sculpture was increasingly challenging the classical ideal of beauty. The works of Alexander Archipenko and Jacques Lipchitz demonstrate how artists began to move further away from naturalistic figurative representation and expanded forms to include basic geometric and abstract elements.
