Time-based Media

The focus is on artistic works that contain a temporal dimension and whose creative strategies are dependent on the technology used. Works by Joseph Beuys and Nam June Paik attest to the role of the Düsseldorf Art Academy in the genesis of these media. Digital art and new, computer-based formats such as augmented reality and virtual reality also fall into this category.
