on display, room 032.3 About the workFor several years Heinrich Riebesehl worked on a documentary series of around 1,000 photographs. He captured the subjects of the “North German agricultural landscape" in a relentlessly aloof manner. The view across fields and pastures is a sober survey of an environment shaped by humans. Riebesehl was inspired by American landscape photography, which turned to recording traces of civilisation instead of unspoilt nature in the 1970s.
