About the workJim Dow’s razor-sharp photographs depict places of consumption in the USA. The Boston-born artist documents the aesthetics of the everyday world, in keeping with the tradition of New Color Photography – a US movement that used colour to explore the limits of photography. The cropping and composition of these images create an almost stage-like effect. Jim Dow’s pictures have been historical documents for some time now and simultaneously chronicle the rise of colour photography as an artistic medium.
