About the workThe Bauhaus artist László Moholy-Nagy set himself the goal of liberating the depiction of pictorial space from its flatness. For this, he coined the term “Fotoplastik” (Photo Sculpture), which he used to describe an artistic process that is based on photography but augmented by combining it with graphic and other elements. Completely detached from the representational function of the medium, Moholy-Nagy created image spaces in which, as he himself wrote, the exhilarating, the poignant, the devastating, the satirical, the visionary and the revolutionary could take place.
