on display, room 009This photograph by the Italian photographer Giacomo Brogi shows only a section of the intricately designed roof of Milan Cathedral. But the detailed reproduction of the large-format albumen print gives a lasting impression of the magnificent design of the Gothic church. The Roman Catholic building is one of the largest churches in the world. Giacomo Brogi established his first studio in Florence in 1864 and became famous for the photographs he took during his travels in Italy and the Middle East.
