About the workThe Düsseldorfer Wulf Aschenborn first attached adhesive tape to the canvas to create a play of colours consisting of overlapping and intersecting shapes. He then painted over the entire surface with one colour and repeated this process with other shades. At the end, the adhesive strips were removed from the canvas. Due to the alternation between recesses and layering, the areas of colour shift between visually emerging and receding. Like curved bands, they guide the viewer’s gaze across the canvas and lose their trace in other areas of colour.
