About the workEasy to clean, safe from vandalism – stainless steel toilets can be found in many public toilet facilities. Stefan Wissel transformed one of them into this work of art, thus also changing the usual perception of the object: instead of seeming cold, austere and sometimes disgusting, the sanitary object combined with a silver balloon appears light, playful, almost amusing. It no longer seems to fit into its original context. This reinterpretation of everyday objects is a recurrent theme throughout the Düsseldorf artist’s work.
