About the workCoincidence or planning? This piece is one of a series of works that the Düsseldorf artist Jan Albers has grouped together under the title “Kettensägenmassaker” (Chainsaw Massacre). For these reliefs, he divided large plastic blocks into irregular grids. Using a power saw, Albers cut vertical, horizontal and diagonal lines into the material. He then applied a caustic liquid to the resulting 3D patterns, creating a stone-like effect that Albers then sprayed with a colour gradient.
