About the workThe boundaries between a utility object and a free work of art are blurred. The simplicity barely hints at the elaborate techniques required to create this special atmosphere in the glass. In 1927, at the age of 15, Alfredo Barbini was awarded the title of “maestrino”. Two years later, he began working as a “maestro”, or master glassmaker, in some of Murano’s most renowned glassworks. In 1950, he founded his own glassworks, which he designed from scratch and where he remained active until shortly before his death in 2007.
