Hunting motifs in the richly decorated vine border portray typical seasonal activities. Caspar Scheuren’s design appeared as a chapter title page in the “Düsseldorfer Künstler-Album” (Artists’ Album) of 1855, published by the physician, politician and poet Wolfgang Müller von Königswinter from 1851 to 1866. The colour lithograph based on Scheuren’s painting was realised by Johann Baptist Sonderland, who had studied at the Düsseldorf Art Academy like Scheuren and frequently translated his designs into prints.
