on display, room 038 About the workTools in the museum? Hans-Peter Feldmann elevates everyday life to art. He often utilises conventional objects in his works, as in this sculpture of a house made from parts of measuring sticks. These instruments are normally used for measuring lengths, especially in the manual trades. The construction of this model building also refers to this industry. Feldmann’s sculpture breaks away from the usual rules of the art world in a humorous way, thus interrogating the seriousness of how art is presented in museums – as well as the “masterly” skills of artists.
