About the workContemporaries reported that Pablo Picasso only needed three hours to create this 26-part sequence on the theme of bullfighting. Since childhood, he had been fascinated by this Spanish tradition of wrestling between human and beast. With brushstrokes placed sparingly on the printing plate, the 75-year-old illustrated the new edition of the first textbook on the art of bullfighting, originally written in 1796 by Pepe Illo, the most famous torero of his time.
