on display, room Raum 32.2 About the workFritz Schwegler would tell the story of how, as a young man, he came upon a treasure trove in a cave in the forest. He returned there repeatedly to collect these objects in order to describe and reproduce them. This invented story served as a reference point for the long-serving professor at the Düsseldorf Art Academy throughout his entire artistic career. It was also the origin of his “Urnotizen”, a collection of consecutively numbered working and conceptual documents. From these arose numerous groups of works, whose elements often refer, by means of EN identification numbers, to the corresponding records.
