About the workAn engraving under the base identifies the carafe as a gift from the U.S. Underseas Cable Corporation. The company laid undersea cables from 1959 to 1972, which narrows down the production period of the glass. With its long history and high quality standards, Salviati’s products were internationally popular with celebrities and for state gifts. Since its foundation in 1859, Salviati had mainly been active as a publisher, passing on its designs to other glassworks. In 1959, the company’s own large furnace was put into operation.
