About the workFoamy and thick-walled - the vase does not correspond to the typical impression of Murano glass of the early 1920s. Napoleone Martinuzzi himself contributed to the development of this type of glass, which met his requirements for a sculptural material. As a sculptor, Martinuzzi had already attracted the attention of the Italian national poet Gabriele d’Annunzio in 1917 and created major works for him. In 1925, he became a partner and artistic director of the Venini glass company and characterised the appearance of modern glass art in Venice until its dissolution in 1932.
