About the workWilli Kemp acquired Wayne Thiebaud’s 1973 print “Lunch Counter” at an art fair in Düsseldorf. He recalled purchasing the image in a catalogue published in 2019: “A chance find and a real stroke of luck: initially classified as a pop artist and later recognised as an outstanding painter, the works of this artist, now highly regarded in the USA, are extremely rare in Europe.”
