About the workAn extremely straight, empty road lies in the darkness of the night. In each of the four images, only a rising celestial orb indicates the passing of time. This “June Moon” of the work’s title, however, turns out to be the slightly altered trademark of the Gulf Oil company. The US artist Allan D’Arcangelo was known for his highway and road sign motifs. Here, he plays with the contrast between the depth effect of the vanishing road and a flat composition style.
