About the workFor the fourth “Schweizerische Landesausstellung” (Swiss National Exhibition) – nicknamed “Landi” – in 1939, the artist and designer Hans Coray developed this weatherproof, lightweight, stackable and heat-dissipating chair, which is one of the earliest examples of aluminium furniture in Europe. The punched holes make the chair even lighter; it only weighs three kilograms. Moreover, they give the Landi, named after the Landesausstellung, its unmistakable, technical-looking appearance, which made it a design classic that is still being produced today.
