About the workThis table lamp is still one of the most popular Bauhaus lamps. The item was developed in the Bauhaus metal workshop by Carl Jakob Jucker, Wilhelm Wagenfeld and Gyula Pap with the aim of designing a light that could be industrially manufactured. Simple cylindrical shapes and materials such as metal and glass were used for this reason. Its form and construction resemble the first electric table lamps from around 1900, right down to the pull switch on the socket. The lamp was first industrially produced and sold in 1928, but at a cost of 55 Reichsmarks, it was unaffordable for broad sections of the population.
