on display, room 035This bowl-shaped stereo radio with cassette deck could be operated with both electricity and battery power. It was one of the first phono systems designed by the American engineer James Pratt Winston and produced by his company Weltron. The futuristic design is due to the enthusiasm for space around the time of its making – in 1969, the first humans had landed on the moon. In this period, the so-called "Space Age" emerged and influenced many areas of design, ranging from fashion and entertainment media to furniture and even architecture.
