About the workTwo discs act as a lens to direct the eye into the small world of bubbles in the centre. After a period of figurative design, in 1974 the glassmaker Livio Seguso turned his attention to the internal design of transparent glass objects and their interplay with light. Seguso had been a master glassmaker at Salviati, Murano’s most traditional glass company, in the 1960s. In 1968, he set up his own studio with the aim of working as a freelance artist. In doing so, he set himself apart from the typical Murano glass production and was inspired by Czech and American glass art.
