About the workFish can fly: in this ceiling-mounted multi-monitor installation by the South Korean artist Nam June Paik, small colourful fish swim through the water on 88 screens. Paik, who taught the video art class at the Düsseldorf Art Academy from 1979 to 1996, designed the colourful mosaic of cathode-ray tube televisions for the foundation Stiftung Museum Kunstpalast. In this work, his idea of television as a shared experience becomes clear: lying down, visitors can indulge and immerse themselves in a spectacle of nature and technology.
