About the workAt first glance, this work by the Swiss artist Daniel Spoerri transports the viewer into a wallpapered bathroom with a table and chair affixed to the wall, as well as a mirror, a tie and some pictures. On the table are dishes in a random arrangement, as if someone had recently been sitting there. In 1960 Spoerri created his first “Trap images”, in which he attached a found constellation of items to a board and hung this on the wall – a panel picture in the most literal sense. The “frozen” objects are thus withdrawn from everyday use.
