About the workThis cupboard probably stood in a sacristy, an adjoining room of a church, and was used to store priests' clothing and religious instruments. This piece is typical in that it has two-storey structure with a crenellated crown and features a Christian inscription as well as the coat of arms from the donors, the Hendl family from Tyrol. The cabinet construction is reminiscent of medieval storage boxes and essentially consists of two chests placed on top of each other outfitted with doors.
