on display, room 028 About the workGünter Haese created kinetic art – mechanical works in which movement is produced through the interaction between different elements and the forces acting upon them. "Before Doors II", also known as “Ante Portas II”, is a structure that is designed in such a way that the smallest external stimulus makes it begin to vibrate, tremble and oscillate. After two major presentations at the very beginning of his career – a solo exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art in New York in 1963 and at the documenta in Kassel the following year – Günter Haese’s artistic oeuvre was forgotten for some time.
