Wooden rocking horse, branches, screws, wool, wire
(H x W x D)137 × 88,5 × 36 cm
About the workBorn in Cologne, Alexandra Bircken studied fashion design at university. Before turning to art, she spent a long time working in the London fashion scene. Her preoccupation with fabrics is evident in her pieces, which incorporate a variety of materials. The human body and its relationship to its environment often play a central role. This object is made of knitted wool; supported by wire and branches, it forms an uneven net that is attached to a wooden rocking horse. The former toy is thus rendered unusable.
