About the workThe “Scheuer” is a peculiar drinking vessel from around 1500. Its characteristic features are the shallow body, the straight rim of the mouth and the upwardly curved handle. While the foot of a Scheuer is usually directly attached to the body, a stem has been inserted here. The Scheuer thus becomes a goblet, and the boundaries between the types of drinking cups become blurred. The green colour is typical of “forest glass”, which was produced by small travelling glassworks in the forests of Central Europe.
