About the workPale green and studded with small, often spiral prunts: these are the characteristic features of the beakers that were to establish a long-lasting and typically Central European tradition of prunted glasses. They were widespread and produced in large quantities and in a wide variety of sizes. They are called “Schaffhausen” beakers after a site where they were found in abundant quantity. The green colour is due to the contamination of the raw materials with iron. The shade of green could be controlled by regulating the furnace.
