About the workOlof Jernberg reproduced lighting and weather atmospheres with strong colours. In addition to the light filtering through the canopy of leaves, he captured the colourful reflections in the rain puddles. The artist spent some time in France and turned to open-air painting there. During this period, many artists visited remote Brittany, which had its own culture and language. Shortly after Jernberg, Paul Gauguin discovered it for himself. Jernberg was one of the comparatively few painters working in Düsseldorf who were concerned with current developments in France during those years.
