About the workIn the 1950s, Günther Uecker began hammering nails into his canvases, creating patterns of light and shadow. In his “Terror Orchestra” series from the 1960s, he increasingly focused on light and sound elements. The group also includes this nail in a cage, which produces electric bolts of lightning. From 1967, the work was part of the interior decoration of the Düsseldorf bar Creamcheese, which remained an important meeting place for the city’s artistic and cultural scene until the 1970s.
