About the workIt is often difficult to determine the authenticity of Murano glass. Is it an original or an imitation? Was the vase made soon after it was designed or was it reissued much later? The provenance of this vase can be vouched for, as it comes from a glass collection that was put together for the Städtische Galerie Schloss Oberhausen around 1962 and sold to the museum in 1992. The design for the colourful chequered vase was around ten years old at the time. It was created by the graphic designer and illustrator Fulvio Bianconi, who had been working for the Venini glassworks since 1946.
