About the workThe late architect, collector and patron Helmut Hentrich gave this letter box to his mother as a birthday present in 1925. It is covered with glass bead embroidery creating an imaginary landscape with a palm tree and a mosque. The work is attributed to the artist Maria Likarz, who headed the fashion department of the Wiener Werkstätte (Vienna Workshop) in 1924/25. This was a group of artists who designed and sold handicrafts.
