About the workThe simple, thick-walled shape is typical of the 1930s. The mastery of the spiral decoration within the glass and the hint of iridescence on its surface show a handling that can be attributed to the still young but already fully trained glassmaker Alfredo Barbini. In 1927, at the age of 15, he had been awarded the title of “maestrino”. Two years later, he began working as a “maestro”, master glassmaker, in some of Murano’s most renowned glassworks.
