About the workAround 1929-1931, Cappellin introduced a series of black glasses with crackled silver foil and a coral red accent. The works are reminiscent of Japanese lacquer work, and some of the outlines also seem to hark back to Japan. Carlo Scarpa probably introduced the series and the spherical shape of this vase to Cappellin. He initially worked as an architect and, from around 1927, increasingly as a designer for the glassworks. As the products were only sold under the company name, it is often not possible to precisely attribute the designs.
