About the workThe goblet was produced shortly after Émile Gallé assumed leadership of his father’s company. The design is probably much older: it represents the former “Maison Gallé-Reinemer”, a trading company for glass and ceramic goods, which adopted the name “Émile Gallé” in 1878 and had since maintained its own decorative workshops. The glass is decorated with bows, forget-me-not flowers and insects. Precursors from earlier centuries have been incorporated into the design. The goblet is thus typical of the environment in which Gallé grew up.
