About the workFor thousands of years, red was a much sought-after glass colour. Its production required great effort. The intense coral red colour of this vase was still a sensational achievement in the 20th century. It is a special glass mass, a “pasta vitrea”, which was difficult to master due to the long cooling times required to blow the vessels. A counterpart of the vase was on display at a major exhibition of Italian arts and crafts in Amsterdam in 1931. It was the last public appearance of the glassworks before it ceased operations at the beginning of 1932.
