About the workA receptacle with a spout and a handle, the design of this jug is reduced to the bare essentials. This common basic form of pouring vessel was widespread in Iran. Jugs like this were probably produced over several centuries – similar to the way that modern wine bottles have been around for a long time. It has not been possible thus far to determine a chronological sequence of production from the small variations in the shape and decoration of the surviving objects.
