About the work“Paperweight” here refers to fusing patterned segments of glass into transparent glass. This method was used to create paperweights in which the glass magnifies the interior decoration. Around 1900, the New York artist and entrepreneur Louis Comfort Tiffany transferred this technique to the production of vases. They depict flowers – or rather embody the idea of them – in a way that is not found in nature.
