About the workHow do you create new, unprecedented designs? Fulvio Bianconi had holes punched in the still malleable vases at the Venini glassworks, and thus instantly created a new programme. The hole transforms a simple outline into an organic, breathing structure that seems to retract and curve. All attention is focussed on the hole and its effect on the body of the vase. This is why the glass mass is limited to a single colour. Bianconi was a graphic designer and illustrator and created designs for Venini from 1946 onwards.
