About the workRibbed bowls are a worthwhile find in archaeology: they were widespread throughout the Roman Empire for two to three generations and even smaller fragments can be easily identified, which helps to date other finds. Unlike ordinary, monochrome bowls, this one is much more intricately made using the mosaic glass technique. It is very badly corroded; the original colours are hardly recognisable. Instead, the corrosion has caused a pearly iridescence on the surface.
